Spurger ISD

The Texas Workforce Commission awarded the Spurger ISD welding department the Jobs and Education for Texans (JET) grant. The awards program signified the completion of the grant. The Jet Grant allows rural schools to have the opportunity to be able to upgrade their CTE programs so that the students can get the best industry-based experience and prepare them for what comes after High School if they choose not to pursue college. Spurger ISD was awarded 368,000 in grant money that was used to purchase 10 new welding machines, new weld booths, and the ventilation that is needed for the shop. We also purchased a new plasma table so that we could cut out all kinds of projects, we received two new portable plasma cutters and also new welding gear for all of the new students that enrolled in the welding program.
