Having a partnership with DETCCA means we can offer our students pathways to careers that otherwise they would have to wait to pursue after graduation. Get with Mrs. Willis to learn more about the upcoming opportunities with DETCCA!

NOTIFICATION OF CONFIRMED COVID-19 CASE ON CAMPUS
10/28/2021
Dear Parent/Guardian,
In keeping with Spurger ISD’s practices to respond to COVID-19, we are notifying all student families that a student member who was lab-confirmed to have COVID-19 was present on the elementary campus on 10/27/2021. You are receiving this notice, because you or your child was present on the campus in the two days prior to the onset of the individual’s diagnosis of COVID-19. Due to privacy requirements, we will not be releasing the name of the individual or details that may identify him or her.
Any of the following symptoms indicate a possible COVID-19 infection:
Temperature of 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit or higher when taken by mouth;
Sore throat;
New uncontrolled cough that causes difficulty breathing (or, for students with a chronic allergic/asthmatic cough, a change in their cough from baseline);
Diarrhea, vomiting, or abdominal pain; or
New onset of severe headache, especially with a fever.
If you or any member of the elementary school community does begin experiencing any of these symptoms in a way that is not typical, we encourage you to contact your physician. We encourage anyone in the elementary school community who is lab-confirmed to have COVID19 to please notify our school by contacting (409) 429-3464.
If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to huttop@spurgerisd.org or visit our website at https://www.spurgerisd.org/ .
Sincerely,
Morgan Wright

The Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery, also known as the ASVAB Test, is the most widely used multiple-aptitude test battery in the world. The ASVAB measures your strengths, weaknesses and potential for future success in four domains: verbal, math, science, technical, and spatial. Once a student receives his or her scores, they can access the Career Exploration Program (CEP). The CEP consists of three main components: the ASVAB (an aptitude test); an Interest Inventory, and Work Values Activity. The student can then explore careers based on their preferences and abilities. The ASVAB is optional and available to any 10th, 11th, and 12th grade student on Wednesday, November 10, 2021. Sign-up sheets are available outside of Mrs. Willis’ door. If you have any questions, please feel free to email Mrs. Robinson at robinsona@spurgerisd.org.
The Police Department and The Fire Department helped Spurger Elementary kick off Red Ribbon Week yesterday morning with a parade of lights and sirens. All students were given badges and got to see what the inside of the cop car and fire truck looked like. Thank you to the officers and firefighters for coming to our school!
1st Grade used sums of 10 to feed the pig!
Saturday, our cheer sponsor's put together a mini cheer camp for the elementary. They learned a cheer and a dance and will be able to perform at the homecoming pep rally and the senior bon fire.
