The JUNIOR HIGH volleyball game scheduled on September 28th against Evadale, in Evadale has changed times. There will be a game before us that will start at 4:30. We do not know an exact time that the game will start, but getting there by 4:45 or 5:00 should be good!

NOTIFICATION OF CONFIRMED COVID-19 CASE ON CAMPUS

Dear Parent/Guardian,
In keeping with Spurger ISD’s practices to respond to COVID-19, we are notifying all student
families that a Staff Member who was lab-confirmed to have COVID-19 was present on the
campus of Spurger Elementary on 9/1/2020. Due to privacy requirements, we will not be
releasing the name of the individual or details that may identify him or her.
The local health department has begun a case investigation and will contact any individuals
determined to be in close contact with the infected individual. All students and staff that came
into close contact will be directly notified no later than 9/6//2020. Those that were in close
contact will remain off campus for up to 14 days to ensure they do not have the virus, so that
there will not be any further spread. We will keep you apprised of further updates.
Any of the following symptoms indicate a possible COVID-19 infection:
O Temperature of 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit or higher when taken by mouth;
o Sore throat;
o New uncontrolled cough that causes difficulty breathing (or, for students with a
chronic allergic/asthmatic cough, a change in their cough from baseline);
o Diarrhea, vomiting, or abdominal pain; or
o New onset of severe headache, especially with a fever.
If you or any member of the Elementary community does begin experiencing any of these
symptoms in a way that is not typical, we encourage you to contact your physician. We
encourage anyone in the Elementary community who is lab-confirmed to have COVID-19 to

Dear Pirate Family, I’m glad we all made it through the storm safely and avoided catastrophic destruction. I know many of you all are dealing with power issues. Due to power and internet fluctuations we are going to have all staff begin on Monday and students will restart remote learning Tuesday. Hopefully, this will give the power companies time to resolve the fluctuation issues.
Due to the mandatory evacuation of Jefferson County, Spurger ISD will be closed Tuesday through Friday.
Meal service time is changing to 11:15-11:45. Remember order before 10 am the day before to get an order. If you miss pick up twice we will no longer take your order.

The Google Sign in information was on the individual form you got when your student received their technology.
We are continuing to monitor the storms in the Gulf. A couple of things to keep you updated
-As of 9:30 this morning the National Weather service is saying that the storm landfall is still unpredictable. We will have an update from the National Weather service at 10:30
-If you are a remote learner and have connectivity and want to evacuate you can.
-We are working closely with Tyler County Emergency Management to make plans.
Remember you must place your order before 10 am the day before to receive meals. Orders must be placed daily.

Spurger ISD is offering breakfast and lunch to all students that are choosing to do the virtual learning from home. The meals MUST be ordered the day before by 10 am to be received and you must have OR show proof that you are the students parent or legal guardian. Drive around to the bus line at the foyer door and call the number listed and we will bring it out to you. Please stay in your car.
