NOTIFICATION OF CONFIRMED COVID-19 CASE ON CAMPUS
10/24/2020
Dear Parent/Guardian,
In keeping with Spurger ISD’s practices to respond to COVID-19, we are notifying all student families that a Staff Member who was lab-confirmed to have COVID-19 was present on the Elementary on 10/21/2020. You are receiving this notice, because you or your child was present on the campus in the seven days prior to the individual’s diagnosis of COVID-19. Due to privacy requirements, we will not be releasing the name of the individual or details that may identify him or her.
Spurger ISD’s Mitigation Plan provides for extensive cleaning and sanitization protocols, as well as social distancing procedures, including the wearing of face masks. As such, CDC guidance provides that the risk of someone contracting COVID-19 from the staff member is low and this notice is being provided in an abundance of caution. The local health department has begun a case investigation and will contact any individuals determined to be in close contact with the infected individual. All students and staff that came into close contact will be directly notified no later than 10/24/2020. Those that were in close contact will remain off campus for up to 14 days to ensure they do not have the virus, so that there will not be any further spread. We will keep you apprised of further updates.
Next week is Red Ribbon Week! We will use these dress up days across all campuses as we vow to be DRUG FREE!
You are now officially a bookworm! 5th and 6th grade students who reached 25 AR points or higher, for the 9 weeks, joined the "Bookworm Club" and received their own bag of gummy worms. Students who reached their personal AR goal for the 9 weeks received a snack and drink of their choice. Way to go Mrs. Williams and your fellow Bookworms! 😊
Way to go Jonathan!! He received a certificate today from Mrs. McGallion for counting so well and working hard in class! We are proud of you! 😊

Due to Covid, things will be slightly different this year with us having coronation and the bonfire on Thursday and the parade and the game on Friday. More details will be released soon on all things homecoming. In the meantime, please look over our spirit days and plan accordingly! Our theme this year is, "When you wish upon a star...." !!HAPPY HOMECOMING!!
Two more Pirate Pride awards for showing integrity were given out to Kassidy and Katy! Good job girls!
Emily was given a Pirate Pride award yesterday from one of her teachers for showing integrity. Keep doing great things Emily!
These two students received a Pirate Pride award from one of their teachers for demonstrating integrity in and outside the classroom! Be on the look out for more students doing the same!
Now that's a fish story! Mrs. Sirmons' 1st grade class is learning how to retell a sequence of events using first, next, and last with pictures. 😊
Yummy for our tummy! Good Citizenship winners were rewarded with a free lunch from Elijah's Cafe in Woodville today. Our students are the best, whether they are inside or outside the classroom. We appreciate Elijah's for recognizing our students each six weeks.😊
We would like to express our heartfelt appreciation to Mr. and Mrs. Brady with the Lion's Club. They stopped by our PreK for vision screens. They used a hand-held device called The Spot Vision Screener which helps users quickly and easily detect vision issues on patients from 6 months to adult. Early screening leads to early detection, which helps ensure that our students get the follow-up care they need. Also, many thanks to Nurse Pam for taking care of our students and staff each and everyday. 😊
Hip! Hip! Hooray! Kyle has just received a Positive Pirate referral in Ms. Martindale's class. She said, "Kyle has been working extremely hard in class. He is answering questions and being positive toward everyone and his class work." Way to go! 😊
These two guys received a Pirate award yesterday for being helpful students! Keep it up guys!
Students working hard in Mrs. Stapert's class creating cyberbullying and social media posters!!
