Thank a Veteran today! 2nd graders made Veteran’s Day cards for our local veterans. We appreciate and thank them for their service to our country.
Also, Miss Adlee got to sit at the teacher’s desk yesterday for being the 1st second grader to reach their AR goal AND get 10 punches on their AR card. Way to go! 😊
Happy Veteran's Day! This past July 4th, countless Spurger residents purchased American flags to decorate our highways coming into town. Yesterday, the Gray and Heim families placed them along the roads in honor of Veteran's Day. Thank you to these families, and all of the other residents who have honored our country, for placing flags out in the past, present, and future. 🇺🇸

Kids can vote too! Our Elementary students had a mock election today to choose their candidate for the Presidential election, while learning about our democratic process. They chose President Donald J. Trump as their President. 🇺🇸 😊
Dear Veterans,
Due to COVID restrictions, we will not be able to have our traditional VETERANS’ DAY PROGRAM. However, we would still like to honor you for your service!
On November 11, 2020, a video honoring veterans, active military, and their families will be posted to the Spurger ISD Website and the Spurger ISD Facebook page. I encourage you to view the video at 11 a.m. that day; students and staff of Spurger ISD will stop at that time to view the video in lieu of our usual program.
The Spurger Volunteer Fire Department will still be serving lunch for veterans, active military, and their families at the old Spurger Lions’ Club from 11:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Spurger ISD will provide a cake at this time as well. Please feel free to go by for lunch and cake!
We wish to express a heartfelt thanks to you for what you have done for this country. American citizens would never have known true freedom without the sacrifices that you, and many others like you, have made for this country. Thank you, always!
Sincerely,
Spurger ISD
Spurger, TX

NOTIFICATION OF CONFIRMED COVID-19 CASE ON CAMPUS
10/29/2020
Dear Parent/Guardian,
In keeping with Spurger ISD’s practices to respond to COVID-19, we are notifying all student families that a Staff Member who was lab-confirmed to have COVID-19 was present on the Elementary on 10/28/2020. You are receiving this notice, because you or your child was present on the campus in the seven days prior to the individual’s diagnosis of COVID-19. Due to privacy requirements, we will not be releasing the name of the individual or details that may identify him or her.
Spurger ISD’s Mitigation Plan provides for extensive cleaning and sanitization protocols, as well as social distancing procedures, including the wearing of face masks. As such, CDC guidance provides that the risk of someone contracting COVID-19 from the staff member is low and this notice is being provided in an abundance of caution. The local health department has begun a case investigation and will contact any individuals determined to be in close contact with the infected individual. All students and staff that came into close contact will be directly notified no later than 10/29/2020. Those that were in close contact will remain off campus for up to 14 days to ensure they do not have the virus, so that there will not be any further spread. We will keep you apprised of further updates.
Any of the following symptoms indicate a possible COVID-19 infection:
-Temperature of 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit or higher when taken by mouth;
- Sore throat;
-New uncontrolled cough that causes difficulty breathing (or, for students with a chronic allergic/asthmatic cough, a change in their cough from baseline);
-Diarrhea, vomiting, or abdominal pain; or
-New onset of severe headache, especially with a fever.
If you or any member of the Elementary School community does begin experiencing any of these symptoms in a way that is not typical, we encourage you to contact your physician. We encourage anyone in the Elementary School community who is lab-confirmed to have COVID19 to please notify our school by contacting (409) 429-3464.
If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to huttop@spurgerisd.org or visit our website at https://www.spurgerisd.org/ .
Sincerely,
Morgan Wright
